Been Gone, Back Now-GREAT new tool (and it’s free)

Folks,

Sorry about the delay in posting. It has been an incredibly hectic three weeks and I simply was unable to post.

I’ve just discovered a terrific tool to help me remember ideas when I am driving home or driving to work.  The company  is called Jott.  It’s a free service that allows you to call a number, dictate what you want to remember, and then it emails it to your email account automatically!  Outstanding service.  I ran across it in several other posts and tried it out.  Here’s what I’ve found as the benefits and drawbacks.

Benefits:  I have Jott on speed dial so when I have an idea when I am driving home, rather than trying to write (jot) it down on a piece of paper or 3×5 card (VERY dangerous), I simply hit one button, access my account and dictate my idea to myself.  When I get to the office the next morning, the email is there and I simply drag it to my task folder and it’s done.  It is much easier for me than calling my office phone number and leaving myself a message-much quicker too.

Drawback-there have been a couple of times when I didn’t enunciate properly (must be my Texas/North Carolina accent) but there was enough of it there for me to remember what I said.

The fastest turnaround time I have had with this was one time with a 20 minute turnaround from my dictation into Jott and getting the email in my inbox when I arrived at work.

And yes, as of today (8/27/07) it is a FREE service.
